Yankees' Ellsbury (hand), Pineda (lat) day to day

CBS Sports 117+ SHARES •

Between Sunday night's win over the Angels and Tuesday night's series opener against the Mariners, the Yankees managed to lose two players to injury.
Jacoby Ellsbury (hand) and Michael Pineda (lat) are day-to-day, manager Joe Girardi announced.
Pineda, 25, felt stiffness in his lat during a recent simulated game in Tampa and is being sent for an MRI.
He is 2-2 with a 1.83 ERA in four starts this year after missing the 2012-13 seasons following shoulder surgery.
David Phelps replaced Pineda in the rotation during his suspension and will stay there for the time being.
